Next, the mutual subsumption with the six pāramitās. Sūtras and treatises differ. In the Bodhisattvabhūmi Treatise, the gathering through giving is explained in terms of the initial dāna-pāramitā, and the gathering through shared benefit is explained in terms of the middle four kinds, because one urges others to practice based on what one practices oneself. Within prajñā, the four means of gathering are fully present, because all practices are generated by means of skillful wisdom. Relying on the Akṣayamatinirdeśa Sūtra, within the gathering through giving, all the boundless pāramitās are fully present, because giving fully contains the giving of material wealth, of Dharma, and of fearlessness: the giving of material wealth subsumes dāna; within the giving of fearlessness, śīla and kṣānti are subsumed, because this does not harm or afflict others; the giving of Dharma subsumes the remaining [pāramitās of] vīrya, dhyāna, and prajñā. Because these three meanings are fully present within the gathering through giving, it subsumes all pāramitās. Within the gathering through loving speech, śīla and kṣānti are subsumed; truly, because loving speech is free from the four verbal faults, it belongs to the domain of śīla, and therefore subsumes the śīla-pāramitā; because loving speech does not revile or curse, it subsumes the kṣānti-pāramitā. Within the gathering through beneficial action, the vīrya-pāramitā is subsumed, because that beneficial action diligently transforms sentient beings, and therefore subsumes vīrya. Within the gathering through shared benefit, dhyāna and prajñā are subsumed, because the samādhi and prajñā accomplished are shared with others. Differentiating further: giving subsumes dāna, as stated in the Bodhisattvabhūmi; the other three are as stated above in the Akṣayamatinirdeśa Sūtra. (Here ends the third section.)
