Next is explaining the mind of offering. The mind of offering has six kinds, as the *Bodhisattvabhūmi* states: 1. Mind of the unexcelled field of merit, being the supreme among that which generates merit; 2. Mind of unexcelled grace and virtue, for all goodness and joy arise dependent upon the Three Jewels; 3. Mind of being the most supreme among all living beings; 4. Mind of being difficult to encounter, like an uḍumbara flower; 5. Mind of being unique in the trichiliocosm; 6. Mind of possessing the meaning of refuge for all mundane and supramundane realms. This explains that the Tathāgata possesses all mundane and supramundane dharmas and is capable of acting as a place of refuge for sentient beings; hence it is called possessing the meaning of refuge. If with these six minds one makes an offering of even a small item, one can obtain limitless and boundless merit, how much more so if it is large! The meaning of offering is briefly distinguished thus.
