The doctrine of unexcelled bodhi is distinguished in seven gates: (1. Explaining the names; 2. Determining the essence; 3. Distinguishing the characteristics; 4. Attaining and non-attaining; 5. Extent according to stages; 6. Distinction according to times; 7. Identity and difference of bodhi and nirvāṇa).
