The doctrine of the four noble truths is distinguished through nine doors: 1. Explaining the names; 2. Distinguishing characteristics by opening and combining; 3. Distinguishing defiled and pure causes and fruits; 4. Distinguishing principle and phenomena; 5. Distinguishing the sixteen noble practices; 6. Relative distinction between constructed and unconstructed, measured and immeasurable; 7. Distinguishing identity and difference; 8. Distinguishing nominal and real; 9. Distinguishing the ten truths.
