6.21

次辨十使潤生差別。若依《毘曇》，於三界中，一切十使皆能潤生。若依《成實》，唯愛能潤。故《成實論．雜問品》云「唯愛能令諸有相續，邪見等中無如是事。」地經論中亦同此說。故彼文言「愛水為潤」。若言受生，癡見亦能起。彼文言「無明覆弊，我心溉灌。」

Next is distinguishing the differences among the ten underlying afflictions in moistening rebirth. According to the Abhidharma, within the three realms, all ten underlying afflictions can moisten rebirth. According to the Tattvasiddhi, only craving can moisten. Therefore the "Chapter on Miscellaneous Inquiries" in the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra states: "Only craving can cause the various existences to continue; such a function does not exist among wrong views and the rest." The Daśabhūmika-śāstra also agrees with this statement. Hence its text states: "The water of craving serves as moisture." If one speaks of receiving birth, delusion and views can also initiate it. Its text states: "Covered and obstructed by ignorance, irrigated by the mind of self."
