6.60

八萬四千諸煩惱者，經但有數，不列其名，何由可識？當應翻彼八萬四千諸度法門，即為八萬四千煩惱。其猶六弊，翻對六度即為六弊，此亦如是。所對八萬四千度門，後當別論。煩惱門竟。

Regarding the eighty-four thousand afflictions: the sūtras only have the number and do not list their names; how then can they be known? One should invert those eighty-four thousand Dharma gates of deliverance, which then constitute the eighty-four thousand afflictions. Just as the six faults, when inverted against the six pāramitās, constitute the six faults, this is also like that. The corresponding eighty-four thousand gates of deliverance will be discussed separately later. This concludes the section on afflictions.
