The doctrine of karma of retribution in the three time periods is differentiated in five gates: (1. Explaining the names and distinguishing their characteristics; 2. Determining their karmic substance; 3. Differentiation by realms and destinies; 4. Differentiation by causes and conditions; 5. Differentiation by the quantity of fruits attained and their slowness or swiftness).
