Question: Why do you speak like this? Explanation: In contrast to their intrinsic nature, our causes and conditions are clarified. Causes and conditions shake their attachment to intrinsic nature. Therefore, the sūtra says: "First, shake with concentration; later, uproot with wisdom." Now, first, clarifying causes and conditions shakes their attachment to [intrinsic] nature; later, it will uproot it. But now, for the time being, clarifying causes and conditions shakes their intrinsic nature. They clarify insubstantiality as determinately the meaning of conventional, and reality as determinately the meaning of ultimate. For this reason, now having shaken them, it is clarified that conventional is the meaning of ultimate, and ultimate is the meaning of conventional.
