不面在昔，佇想用勞。慧明道人至，得去年十二月疏并問。披尋返覆，欣若暫對。涼風屆節，頃常如何？貪道勞疾，多不住耳。信南返不悉。八月十五日。釋僧肇疏答。

Not having seen each other in the past, my yearning thoughts have been exhausting. When the monk Huiming arrived, I received your letter and queries of the twelfth month of last year. Perusing them back and forth, my joy was as if facing you for a moment. With the cool wind marking the turn of the season, how have you been of late? As for this poor monk, fatigued by illness, I am mostly unable to stay at ease. With the messenger returning south, I cannot write fully. Fifteenth day of the eighth month. Written in reply by the monk Sengzhao.
