"At this, in the sixth Heaven of Transformation by the Voice of Others, the Demon King of that heaven saw that the bodhisattva was pure and desireless, meditating with unflagging diligence. His mind became afflicted and vexed; he found no taste in his food and drink and took no pleasure in music. He thought: 'If this Way is accomplished, he will surely surpass me greatly. I must ruin his aspiration for the Way before he becomes a Buddha.' The Demon's son, Sādhu, stepped forward to admonish his father, saying: 'The bodhisattva's practice is pure, peerless throughout the three realms; having attained natural spiritual powers, hundreds of millions of all the Brahmās and devas go to pay homage and attend upon him. This is not someone the Heavenly King should thwart or ruin; do not give rise to evil and diminish your own blessings.' The Demon King would not listen and summoned three jade maidens: the first named Desiring Consort, the second named Pleasing Others, and the third named Joyful Sight, sending them to corrupt the bodhisattva's mind. The three women were dressed in gossamer garments, adorned with divine famed perfumes, necklaces, and jewels, using extremely seductive and alluring words, seeking to bewilder his mind. The bodhisattva's mind was pure, like a lapis lazuli jewel that cannot be soiled. The three maidens spoke to him again, saying: 'Your benevolence and virtue are supreme, revered by all the gods; you ought to receive offerings, and therefore Heaven presents us to you. We are pure and graceful, in the prime of our youth, and among the heavenly maidens none surpass us. We wish to serve and attend upon you morning and night.'
