隨聲取義之士，滯於一偏不達圓音，故再舉今昔以示之，令不泥教。
Scholars who grasp meanings according to words are stuck in one extreme and do not fathom the perfect sound; therefore [the text] again raises present and past to show them, so that they will not be rigidly bound by the teaching.
