This brings out both reasons together. "Myriad things" refers to all marks such as sights and sounds; deriving from conditions without self-nature, they are therefore said to be "empty." "Burden" means to encumber. "Spiritual brilliance" is the spiritual mind mentioned above. The meaning is: identical with the emptiness of things, realizing it, one cannot be obstructed; responding to it, one cannot be restricted; how then could there be any burden upon spiritual brilliance? Above, determining the mind on the basis of the object seemed like the distinct illuminations of two wisdoms; yet since being identical with the emptiness of things is of a single source, the expedient that arises from the real is without difference.
