東晉支道林作《即色遊玄論》。初句牒，次二句敘彼所計。彼謂青黃等相非色自能，人名為青黃等；心若不計，青黃等皆空。以釋經中色即是空。

Zhi Daolin of the Eastern Jin composed the Treatise on Wandering into the Dark by Matter as Such. The first line presents the topic; the next two lines state his theory. He held that appearances such as blue and yellow are not capable of being matter on their own, but humans designate them as blue, yellow, and so on; if the mind does not conceptualise them, blue, yellow, and so on are all empty. He used this to explain 'matter is emptiness' in the sūtras.
