First, it cites a phrase from the latter part of fascicle twenty-seven of the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa. It also quotes the gist of the Madhyamakaśāstra as a further explanation, stating that this is the foremost ultimate truth. It cites these two treatises as the doctrinal foundation, which the treatise below elaborates. That they both say "all dharmas" comprehensively encompasses all things. Because this is the doctrinal principle, it cites a common term to analyze collectively the principle that is itself the middle. Next, following the doctrine, it opens and shows, individually revealing [it] by reference to form and emptiness, and even down to words and mental activities. At the end, it cites two treatises—the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā and another—to analyze it in terms of dharmas produced from causes and conditions. It then again gathers together all that is unreal, form and emptiness, and so forth. By examining in detail from beginning to end based on this, one only then realizes the marvelousness with which the treatise's purport is established. "Foremost" means that ultimate and conventional are not two, and that it is not the duality of ultimate and conventional.
