上句順難縱之，下句總斷非知。此但斷定非知，下釋不知之所以云。

The upper sentence accommodates the objection by provisionally conceding it; the lower sentence definitively concludes that it is not knowing. This simply decides that it is not knowing; below explains the reason why it does not know, stating:
