Fleeing being to abide in non-being is like a person troubled by the precipitous heights of a perilous peak who turns around and plunges into a ditch or ravine, unaware that falling into a ravine can also harm the body. Thus the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā states: "The Great Sage taught the Dharma of emptiness in order to abandon all views. If one again sees the existence of emptiness, the Buddhas will not transform him." Because views attached to being are easy to remove, but views attached to emptiness are difficult to cure—like fire emerging from water, or illness arising because of medicine.
