難曰：聖心雖無知，然其應會之道不差，是以可應者應之、不可應者存之。

[The challenger] objects: Although the sage mind is without knowing, its way of adapting to encounters never errs; therefore, to those whom it can respond to, it responds, and those whom it cannot respond to, it leaves aside.
