論主謙云：我以才短智乏，則預什公嘉善之會，殊異要妙之義，始於此時。聞自什公，故云上聞。

The treatise master modestly says: "Because my talent was meager and my wisdom lacking, yet I participated in Master Kumārajīva's fine and auspicious gathering, the extraordinary and subtle meanings began from this time." Because he heard them from Master Kumārajīva, he says "hearing from my superior".
