"We have not met face to face in the past, and looking forward in thought has been wearying. When the Daoist Huiming arrived, I received your letter and questions of the twelfth month of last year. Unfolding and examining them back and forth, I rejoiced (was glad) as though briefly facing you in person. The cool breeze arrives with the season; how have you been lately? This impoverished monk has been wearied with illness and mostly unwell. The messenger is returning (turning back) south, so I cannot write in detail (exhaustively)."
