夫無寄在（因）乎冥寂，冥寂故虛以通之。妙盡存（因）乎極數，極數故數以應之。數以應之，故動與事會；虛以通之，故道超名外。

"Now, having no resting place depends on silent stillness; because it is silently still, it is empty and thereby penetrates them. Marvelous consummation depends on fully comprehending phenomena; because it fully comprehends phenomena, it uses phenomena to respond to them. Because it uses phenomena to respond to them, in motion it accords with affairs; because it is empty and thereby penetrates them, the Way transcends outside of designations."
