無乃，文簡，具云豈不乃也。如外典云：「無乃為佞乎？」若定有知，豈不乖心違教。
"Is this not, then" (wunai) is an abbreviated expression; in full it means "how could it not, then." As non-Buddhist texts say: "Is this not, then, flattery?" If there were definitely knowing, how could it not run counter to the mind and violate the teachings?
