肇以人微，猥蒙國恩，得閑居學肆，在什公門下十有餘載。雖眾經殊致、勝趣非一，然涅槃一義常以聽習為先。

Zhao, being of humble person, unexpectedly received the state's grace, being able to reside at leisure in the hall of learning, remaining among the disciples of Master Kumārajīva for more than ten years. Although the myriad sūtras have diverse intents and their supreme bents are not one, yet with regard to the single meaning of nirvāṇa, I always took listening and studying as primary.
