The opening sentence tells the questioner: when the sūtra explains correct contemplation, have you alone not heard of it? From 'Vimalakīrti...' onward, it also cites according to the underlying meaning. The three sentences from 'Without beginning...' onward reveal transcendence. Because the mark of arising has been completely exhausted, it says 'without beginning.' Because the mark of cessation is also eliminated, it says 'without end.' Furthermore, this is because the three divisions of time have been severed. 'Six sense-entrances' are the six sense organs. Because the faculties and spheres mutually enter one another, they are called the 'six sense-entrances.' 'Have already been passed beyond' means that the uncontaminated pure form does not enter into the dusts. From 'the three realms...' onward, it is because worldly bondage has been eliminated. The four sentences from 'Neither located...' onward negate and manifest simultaneously. The four sentences from 'Cannot be...' onward reveal the body's depth and profundity. From 'One who contemplates with this...' onward, it concludes by distinguishing the heterodox from the orthodox. These are all scriptures of the older translations, slightly differing from the present scripture. From 'The *Fangguang* says...' onward, it is according to the underlying meaning. It cites the intention of Bodhisattva Dharmodgata's reply to Sadāprarudita's inquiry in the thirtieth fascicle of that scripture. The *Great Commentary* says: 'If there were a spatial location, appearing here would mean absence there. Because there is no spatial location, wherever an evocative response arises, form is manifested.' All the preceding indicates self-nature nirvāṇa; the following indicates non-abiding [nirvāṇa], which is also the responsive transformation nirvāṇa.
