無為故，雖動而常寂；無所不為故，雖寂而常動。雖寂而常動，故物莫能一；雖動而常寂，故物莫能二。物莫能二，故逾動逾寂；物莫能一，故逾寂逾動。

Because he does nothing, though moving he is constantly quiescent; because there is nothing he does not do, though quiescent he is constantly moving. Though quiescent he is constantly moving, therefore things cannot make him one; though moving he is constantly quiescent, therefore things cannot make him two. Because things cannot make him two, the more he moves the more he is quiescent; because things cannot make him one, the more he is quiescent the more he moves.
