九折之八也。窮謂窮討，源謂根源。雲庵云：「由前章已知一乘正行動寂同時，今則行成必證。未識能證之人與所證之法，誰先誰後？隨一為源，二俱有過，故今窮之。」

The eighth of the nine refutations. 'Exhausting' means investigating to the end; 'source' means the root source. Yun'an says: 'From the previous section it was already known that the proper practice of the One Vehicle is simultaneously active and still; now, with practice accomplished, there must be realization. Not yet knowing, between the person who can realize and the dharma that is realized, which is prior and which is posterior? Whichever one is taken as the source, both entail fault; therefore it is now investigated to the end.'
