物即境也，即物明如故。我即心也，約聖稱我故。畢竟證會，涅槃非先、三乘非後。
'Things' is the objective realm, because by means of things suchness is clarified. 'Self' is the mind, because the sage is designated 'self'. In ultimate realization and convergence, nirvāṇa is not prior and the three vehicles are not posterior.
