第一出體者，此有二種：一所觀體、二能觀體。所觀唯識，以一切法而為自體，通觀有無為唯識故。略有五重：

First, showing the essence: this has two kinds: 1. the essence that is contemplated; 2. the essence that contemplates. Consciousness-only that is contemplated takes all phenomena as its self-nature, because both the conditioned and unconditioned are universally contemplated as consciousness-only. There are, in brief, five tiers:
