1.22

退菩提心門有四因緣，能令菩薩退菩提心。一種姓不具，二惡友所攝，三於諸眾生悲心微薄，四於極長時生死大苦難行苦行怯畏驚怖也。

The Section on Retrogression from Bodhicitta. There are four causes and conditions that can cause a bodhisattva to retrogress from bodhicitta: first, not being fully endowed with the gotra; second, being influenced by bad friends; third, having weak and meager compassion toward sentient beings; fourth, feeling fear, dread, and terror toward the great suffering and difficult austerities of saṃsāra over an extremely long time.
