次說發心勝劣。云如來說言：「如諸菩薩最初發心下劣一念福德果報，百千萬劫說不能盡。況復一日一月一歲乃至百歲，所習諸心福德果報，豈可說盡。何以故？菩薩所行無盡，欲令一切眾生皆住無生法忍，得無上菩提故。」

Next, the superiority and inferiority of the arousal of the mind are explained. It is said that the Tathāgata stated: 'The karmic fruit of merit from even a single thought of the initial, inferior arousal of the mind by all bodhisattvas cannot be fully described in hundreds of thousands of myriads of kalpas. How much more so could the karmic fruit of merit from the various minds cultivated for a single day, a single month, a single year, or even a hundred years ever be fully described? Why is this? Because what the bodhisattva practices is inexhaustible, desiring to cause all sentient beings to abide in the tolerance of unarisen dharmas and attain unsurpassed bodhi.'
