《文殊問經．上卷》云：有三十五大供養，是菩薩摩訶薩應知。然燈、燒香、塗身，塗地香、末香、袈裟及繖；若龍子幡，并諸餘幡，螺鼓、大鼓、鈴盤、舞歌以臥具，或三節鼓、腰鼓、節鼓并及截鼓；曼陀羅華掃地灑地，貫華懸繒；飯、水、漿飲可食、可噉，及以可味香和檳榔、楊枝、浴香，并及澡豆，此謂大供養。

The first fascicle of the Mañjuśrīparipṛcchā-sūtra says: "There are thirty-five great offerings that bodhisattva mahāsattvas should know: lighting lamps, burning incense, ointments for the body, incense smeared on the ground, powdered incense, kāṣāya robes, and parasols; banners of dragon-crests and various other banners; conches and drums, great drums, cymbals, dancing, singing, and bedding; or three-joint drums, waist drums, jointed drums, and cut drums; mandārava flowers, sweeping the ground and sprinkling the ground, stringing flowers and hanging silk banners; cooked rice, water, syrups and drinks, edible foods, foods to chew, and flavorful incense blended with betel nut, willow tooth-sticks, bathing incense, and bath powder—these are called the great offerings."
