Ninth, pure forbearance: briefly, there are ten kinds. That is, when bodhisattvas encounter harmful actions, injury, affliction, and transgression by others, they never retaliate, nor do they harbor mental resentment, nor do they hold grudges or hostility. Their benevolent intention continues and is constantly present, desiring to bring benefit, being the same from beginning to end, not abandoning someone without benefiting them just because they have benefited them once; toward those who bear enmity they go themselves to apologize and ask forgiveness, never waiting until the other person feels weary and disaffected before accepting their apology, but out of fear that the other may quickly become averse, they accept it as soon as the apology is offered, and so forth.
