There are seven [types of] non-fields to which one should not give: (1) when the petitioner is extremely violent and evil, having formerly been an enemy who has sought refuge with an enemy and makes a request; (2) when one can never succeed in exhorting them to do wholesome deeds; (3) when their mind is corrupted and defiled, and they make a request for the sake of defiled matters; (4) when they make a request for the sake of causing harm or affliction; (5) when the petitioner is either Māra himself, or possessed by Māra, and makes an improper request; (6) when they beg for one's parents, or any other thing that is not an object for giving; (7) when it would bring about what is pointless.
