十業能令眾生得長命報：一自不殺生、二勸他不殺、三讚歎不殺、四見他不殺心生歡喜、五者見彼殺者心方便救免、六死怖者安慰其心、七見恐怖者施與無畏、八見諸患者起慈悲心、九見諸急難起大悲心、十以諸飲食惠施眾生。

Ten karmas can cause sentient beings to receive the retribution of a long life: first, personally not killing; second, encouraging others not to kill; third, praising non-killing; fourth, feeling joy in one's heart upon seeing others not killing; fifth, upon seeing someone about to be killed, mindfully using skillful means to rescue and exempt them; sixth, comforting the hearts of those terrified of death; seventh, bestowing fearlessness upon seeing those who are frightened; eighth, giving rise to a mind of loving-kindness and compassion upon seeing those who are sick; ninth, giving rise to a mind of great compassion upon seeing those in severe distress; tenth, bestowing food and drink upon sentient beings.
