原夫此書者，發心修行之要路，菩提涅槃之大基，求佛行人不可不崇。依之先年之比，故清淨光院家有御發願被開上卷，其後關東名越光明寺苾芻靜照特發誓願，勸化數十貫之淨財，式備中下開版費用，令同法苾芻照慧、勤策、誘賢幹緣矣，冀流通永代，開發大心者。

Now, this book is an essential path for generating the mind and practicing, and the great foundation of bodhi and nirvāṇa; practitioners who seek Buddhahood cannot fail to revere it. Because of this, some years ago, the late Cloister Master of Seijōkō-in made a vow to have the upper fascicle printed. Thereafter, the bhikṣu Jōshō of Kōmyō-ji in Nagoe, Kantō, especially made a vow and raised tens of kan of pure wealth to formally prepare the printing costs for the middle and lower fascicles, directing the fellow-Dharma bhikṣus Shōkei, Gonsaku, and Yūken to manage the endeavor, hoping that it will circulate for an eternity and awaken the great mind [in practitioners].
