1.2
I bow my head to the unequalled, excellent Tamer,
Who is able to extricate those sinking in the sufferings of birth and death;
Like empty space, whose nature and characteristics have neither coming nor going,
Yet who responds to those to be transformed like a shadow following a form.
The single-flavor, wondrous nectar of the real mark,
And the eighty thousand profound dharmas that flow equally [from it].
Those of the three [stages of] worthies who sever forever the stream of craving,
And those of the ten grounds who gallop afar upon the correct path.
Therefore, with sincere heart I take refuge in this Triple Gem,
Intending to reveal the stages and practices for entering the Mahāyāna;
May the Dharma ever shine brightly throughout the long night,
And sentient beings forever cast off dense darkness!
