此識恒執我故，則有情恒處生死長夜而不自覺，以與四惑、八大常俱起故。
Because this consciousness constantly grasps a self, sentient beings continually dwell in the long night of saṃsāra without being aware of it, since it constantly arises together with the four afflictions and the eight great [secondary afflictions].
