八、難信易信差別。如此經〈賢首品〉云「一切世界群生類，尠有欲求聲聞乘，求緣覺者轉復少，求大乘者甚希有；求大乘者猶為易，能信此法甚為難。」解云：以此品中正明信位終心即攝一切位，及成佛等事，既超三乘，恐難信受，故舉三乘對比決之。

Eighth, the distinction between difficult to believe and easy to believe. For example, the 'Chief of the Virtuous' chapter of this sūtra states: 'Among all classes of living beings in all worlds, / Few seek the śrāvaka vehicle; / Those seeking the pratyekabuddha are even fewer; / Those seeking the Mahāyāna are extremely rare. / Seeking the Mahāyāna is still easy; / Being able to believe this dharma is exceedingly difficult.' Explanation: Because this chapter directly clarifies that the final mind of the stage of faith directly subsumes all stages, the attainment of buddhahood, and so forth, and since this surpasses the Three Vehicles, it is feared that it will be difficult to believe and accept; hence the Three Vehicles are cited for comparison and resolution.
