2.44

問：「若爾，是初門即一切者，何不說信位初心即得，而說滿心等耶？」答：「若自別教，即不依位成。今寄三乘終教位說，以彼教中信滿不退，方得入位。今即寄彼得入位處，一時得此一切前後諸位行相，是故不於信初心說，以未得不退，未成位相，但是行故。」

Question: 'If so, and the initial approach is immediately the all, why does it not say that it is attained at the initial mind of the stage of faith, but speaks of the fulfilled mind, and so forth?' Answer: 'In the distinct teaching itself, realization does not rely on stages. Here it is provisionally explained in terms of the stages of the final teaching of the Three Vehicles, because in that teaching only when faith is completed and non-retrogression attained can one enter the stages. Here, provisionally based on where one enters the stages, all these practices and characteristics of the earlier and later stages are attained at once. Therefore, it is not spoken of at the initial mind of faith, because non-retrogression has not yet been attained, the characteristics of the stage have not yet been formed, and it is merely practice.'
