第二、明種性差別者，若依小乘種性有六種：謂退、思、護、住、昇進、不動。不動性中有三品：上者佛種性；中者獨覺性；下者聲聞性，如舍利弗等。雖於此中說佛一人有佛種性，然非是彼大菩提性，以於佛功德不說盡未來際起大用等故。是故當知，於此教中除佛一人，餘一切眾生皆不說有大菩提性。餘義如小乘論說。

Second, explaining the differences in gotra. If according to Hīnayāna, there are six kinds of gotra: retrogression, thought, protection, abiding, progress, and immobility. Within the immobile gotra there are three grades: the superior is the buddha-gotra; the middling is the pratyekabuddha-gotra; the inferior is the śrāvaka-gotra, such as Śāriputra and others. Although here it speaks of the single person of the Buddha having the buddha-gotra, it is nevertheless not the nature of great bodhi, because it does not state that the Buddha's virtues arise in great function to the end of the future, and so on. Therefore one should know that in this teaching, apart from the single person of the Buddha, all other sentient beings are not said to have the nature of great bodhi. The remaining points are as explained in the Hīnayāna treatises.
