初義者，若依始教，具足三乘斷惑差別，由此是其三乘教故。障有二種：謂煩惱、所知。先辨二乘斷煩惱障，於中有二：先障名數、後斷惑得果。

Regarding the first meaning: according to the initial teaching, it fully possesses the distinctions of severing afflictions of the Three Vehicles, because this is the Three Vehicles teaching. There are two kinds of obscurations: afflictive and cognitive. First, we distinguish the severance of afflictive obscurations by the two vehicles, wherein there are two parts: first, the names and numbers of the obscurations; second, severing afflictions and attaining the fruits.
