First, the differences in consciousness. In Hīnayāna, there are only six consciousnesses, functionally divided into mind, mentation, and consciousness, as explained in the Hīnayāna treatises. Regarding the ālayavijñāna, they attain only its name, as spoken in the Ekottarika-āgama.
