問：修多羅等三藏教網同異云何？答：其三藏教分為兩義：一所詮三故教即為三。修多羅詮定，乃至毘那耶詮戒，三乘、小乘同此名數，而義深淺分齊不同。二所為二故分教為二，謂大乘、小乘，分為二藏。緣覺從其獨覺，為無教故，不與藏名。若一乘內，即有十藏，如第四會說。

Question: How do the teaching-nets of the three piṭakas—sūtra, and so forth—agree and differ? Answer: The teaching of the three piṭakas is divided into two meanings: First, because what is explained is threefold, the teachings are threefold: the sūtras explain samādhi, up to the vinaya explaining the precepts. The triyāna and Hīnayāna share these names and enumerations, but the depths and delimitations of their meanings differ. Second, because what they are intended for is twofold, the teachings are divided into two: namely, the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna, which are divided into two piṭakas. Pratyekabuddhas, being solitary awakeners, have no teaching, and are therefore not given the designation of a piṭaka. Within the Ekayāna, there are ten piṭakas, as explained in the fourth assembly.
