問：慧門何別？答：小乘，見修及八忍八智等，廣如論說。三乘教內，或十一智等、或三智等。若以義求，十一智等多為迴心漸悟人說，起彼信便故；加行智等為直進菩薩說，於彼入道有勝便故。若依一乘，有十種智，如〈離世間品〉說。其智所知諸諦十二因緣差別義門，廣如疏說。

Question: How do the approaches to wisdom differ? Answer: For the Hīnayāna, vision, cultivation, the eight patiences, eight wisdoms, and so forth are broadly as spoken in the treatises. Within the triyāna teaching, there are either eleven wisdoms and so forth, or three wisdoms and so forth. If sought through their meaning, the eleven wisdoms and so forth are mostly spoken for people of diverted mind and gradual awakening, in order to facilitate the arising of their faith; the wisdom of preparatory practice and so forth are spoken for bodhisattvas of direct advancement, because they are superiorly expedient for their entry into the path. If according to the Ekayāna, there are ten kinds of wisdom, as spoken in the 'Chapter on Detachment from the World'. The different approaches of meaning regarding the truths and twelve links of pratītyasamutpāda known by that wisdom are broadly as spoken in the commentary.
