問：住道住果賢聖差別云何？答：依小乘教，有二十七賢聖，廣如《毘曇》、《成實》等說。三乘賢聖有四十二，一乘賢聖有四十五，此通理事行位人法因果等法門也。若主伴別分則一百一十，若散說所依則三千大千世界微塵數，即是善知識也。

Question: How do the worthies and noble ones abiding in the path and abiding in the fruit differ? Answer: According to the Hīnayāna teaching, there are twenty-seven worthies and noble ones, broadly as spoken in the Abhidharma, Tattvasiddhi, and so forth. The worthies and noble ones of the triyāna are forty-two; the worthies and noble ones of the Ekayāna are forty-five—this extends to the teachings of principle and phenomenon, practice and stage, person and Dharma, cause and fruit, and so forth. If differentiated into principal and retinue, there are one hundred and ten; if spoken of diffusely in terms of their support, they are as numerous as the dust motes of a trichiliocosm, which are simply the kalyāṇamitras.
