經曰：悉得三世一切諸佛所說法海（釋曰：法者可軌也。此通教主義也）。於一一生法（釋曰：謂出生立義宗法也）。一一方便法（釋曰：謂引證喻合法等方便也）。一一語言法（釋曰：謂隨方言音教法也）。一一施設法（釋曰：謂施名於義法也）。一一教法（釋曰：謂成教則也）。一一說法（釋曰：謂授與他人言說則也）。一一法門（釋曰：謂諸宗法門也）。一一入法（釋曰：謂諸解行能入智也）。一一決定法（釋曰：謂教義相應，廣釋決擇也）。一一住法（釋曰：謂究竟義宗成說安立也）。

The sūtra states: 'Completely obtaining the ocean of dharmas expounded by all Buddhas of the three times (Explanation: "Dharma" means that which can serve as a model; this applies generally to the meaning of doctrine). In each and every dharma of arising (Explanation: meaning the fundamental tenets and dharmas that give rise to and establish doctrine). In each and every dharma of expedient means (Explanation: meaning the expedients of citing evidence, analogies, application, and so forth). In each and every dharma of language (Explanation: meaning the doctrinal dharmas of speech and sound according to region). In each and every dharma of designation (Explanation: meaning the dharma of assigning names to meanings). In each and every dharma of teaching (Explanation: meaning the rules that constitute doctrine). In each and every dharma of preaching (Explanation: meaning the rules of verbal exposition given to others). In each and every dharma gate (Explanation: meaning the dharma gates of the various schools). In each and every dharma of entrance (Explanation: meaning the wisdom able to enter through understanding and practice). In each and every dharma of certainty (Explanation: meaning doctrine and meaning being concordant, with extensive explanation and critical determination). In each and every dharma of abiding (Explanation: meaning the ultimate tenets and principles being established and firmly seated).'
