十明者，十者數。明者，照達所由，名為明也。此義通十地，即十地德也，不共三乘及小乘同。廣如〈離世間品〉說。

As for the 'ten clarities', 'ten' is a number. 'Clarity' refers to that through which illumination and thorough comprehension are attained; hence it is called clarity. This meaning extends through the ten bhūmis, being the virtues of the ten bhūmis; it is not shared in common with the Triyāna and Hīnayāna. It is extensively explained as in the 'Chapter on Transcending the World'.
