4.55

辟支者，有二種：一犀角、二伴行。覺常樂寂靜，因外緣解，知足少事，不由他悟，明了法解緣覺故。其義從聲聞乘漸漸轉細至於一乘，名緣覺義。此義準前八人章成其義解。餘如別章。

Regarding pratyekas, there are two types: first, rhinoceros-horn-like; second, traveling in company. Awakening to constant delight in quietude, understanding through external conditions, having few desires and being content, not awakening through others, they clearly understand the dharma and understand conditioned origination. Its meaning gradually shifts and becomes more subtle from the śrāvaka vehicle up to the Ekayāna; this is called the meaning of pratyekabuddha. This meaning forms its doctrinal understanding following the preceding Chapter on the Eight Persons. The rest is as in the separate chapter.
