Regarding the abodes of bodhisattvas, according to the five teachings, there are five different meanings. If considered from the perspective of ordinary persons, it is the abode of what belongs to me. Why is this? Because Buddhas and bodhisattvas manifest in the abodes of ordinary persons not differently from ordinary persons. If it is the abode of śrāvakas, it is solely the realm of dharmas and self, for there is no person. If it is the abode of bodhisattvas: in the initial teaching it is empty; in the final teaching it is suchness, because it cannot be discriminated. If relying on the sudden teaching, everything is ineffable, because it is free from discrimination. If it is the abode of the Ekayāna, it is unhindered according to the direction, without duality and without distinction, just like the dharmadhātu. Now, the abode of bodhisattvas is the abode of the Ekayāna Samantabhadra; here, coarse characteristics are presented merely to indicate its pattern. This meaning extends through the ten grounds. Why is this? Because by adducing those abodes, it praises Samantabhadra's virtue as unhindered and sovereign. The remaining meanings are as in the separate section.
