Tenth, furthermore, in principle this flower petal does not arise in isolation; it must gather immeasurable retinue surrounding it. As the sūtra says: "This flower has lotuses as numerous as the atoms of an ocean of worlds as its retinue." All the phenomena of the perfect teaching in this sūtra are mutually host and companion, complete and consummate in virtues. Therefore, to see this flower petal is precisely to see the inexhaustible dharmadhātu, not that it relies on this to represent something else. Later in the text it says: "a canopy of flowers arising from the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas," and so forth.
