七、約三根故立三寶，為信供養諸佛如來福田人，故立佛寶；為信供養第一妙法福田人，故立法寶；為信供養第一聖眾福田人，故立僧寶。此上三門並如《寶性論》說，故彼偈云「為三乘信三供養等，是故說三寶。」

Seventh, the Three Jewels are established in terms of three faculties: for people of faith who make offerings to the field of merit of the Buddhas and Tathāgatas, the Buddha Jewel is established; for people of faith who make offerings to the field of merit of the foremost, wondrous Dharma, the Dharma Jewel is established; for people of faith who make offerings to the field of merit of the foremost noble assembly, the Saṅgha Jewel is established. These above three gates are all as explained in the Ratnagotravibhāga; thus its verse says: "Because of the three vehicles, their faith, and the three kinds of offerings and so forth, / Therefore the Three Jewels are taught."
